We the undersigned urge the Government of Canada and the Minister of Community Safety to quash the Parole Board decision to release Darren Scott Ray into the Durham Region.
Residents should feel safe in their own community.
Child murderers should never be allowed to leave prison.
The Parole Board's decision will allow him two more chances for 72 hour Unaccompanied Temporary Absence (UTA) from prison even though they believe he had victimized others. These are crimes for which he was never charged or convicted. One of those victims was a little girl. Durham Region has experienced 2.3X increase in sexual crimes against children from 2017 to 2025.
It is outrageous that you would allow Darren Scott Ray to stay in a halfway house here in Durham Region. We demand that you rescind the Parole Board decision immediately

in December of 2025 Durham Region published statistics that demonstrated a massive increase in sexual violations against children. Sending a convicted child murderer to Durham Region is the wrong decision
